In Salem, where the witch trials burned,
A tale of lies and truth was learned.
The crucible, a test of fire,
For those who'd dare to speak their desire.
Accusations flew, and tensions rose,
As fear and mistrust, the town enclose.
Reputation, honour, all at stake,
As the innocent were forced to bake.
John Proctor, a man of integrity,
Refused to falsely confess, to set him free.
But as the trials reached their peak,
He found himself, in a bind so bleak.
For love of his wife, and fear of shame,
He signed his name, to the Devil's claim.
But in the end, it was his name,
That cleared the innocent, and ended the game.
The crucible, a test of fire,
Forged the souls of those who dared to desire.
And in the end, it was the truth,
That set the innocent, free from their youth.
